roeselare's labyrinthe
The International Circus and Street Theatre Festival of Roeselare is organized every three years by De Spil.
For the 2018 edition, the Malunés collective set up their big top in the main square for about ten days. In collaboration with Bolwerk, they built a labyrinth where the audience could immerse themselves before and after each performance of Forever, happily…
De Tuin der Lusten, De Spil’s socio-artistic initiative, had already been working throughout the year with a large number of volunteers on this unique project. Inspired by the collective’s show, they built a treehouse, created twisted fairy-tale characters, organized popular gatherings and explorations, all to populate and bring this labyrinth to life.
Together with the De Spil team, one hundred and fifty people took part in the socio-artistic project “Tuin Der Lusten”: twenty-five local residents and fifteen amateur unicycle artists from Woesh.
The Malunés collective also invited other artists to join the adventure: the acrobats Les Frères Troubouch, as well as the trapeze artist and the musician from the company La Burrasca.
After an intense week of collaboration, creation and construction, the audience was able to lose themselves in this labyrinth inhabited by all kinds of quirky and enchanting characters, and to witness an explosive final scene following the performance of Forever, happily…
